Type: Wolf
Plot: The Richwater packlands are old and ancient, with countless generations of wolves telling their offspring the legends of the land with stories of spirits, demons, heroes, and gods; but mostly on the rich and plentiful resources that it has. The land had plenty of water to drink from, plenty of prey to find and catch, and it was hidden away from the strange two-legged beasts of myth and rumour. It was a place for wolves to make their own fates and form their own packs. This had continued on for years with little change. Packs formed and died as did the wolves, but still life was the same as it always was. Hunts, fights, packs, just general survival that wolves have been doing since the dawn of time.
But eventually the land started to yield less and less. The fresh water started to dry up, the prey started to move away, some wolves went missing, some later found dead with strange injuries or no pelt at all. A wolf that was foolish enough to try and start a new pack quickly was wiped out by the existing ones or became raven food in a matter of weeks. Fighting broke out over food and resources.
Wars even broke out within the packs and many were destroyed or absorbed by another until only three large packs remained; all three weary and bloodied of war; each licking its wounds and trying to overcome nature's threat of starvation. A cease fire forced by this threat allowed an uneasy, tense peace. The packs had a chance to talk to each other, maybe even eek out some kind of existence together. But this could be short lived as one mistake can easily stir up hate within a group, and with the land's ever-dwindling resources, the idea of one less pack to have to share food with is getting overwhelmingly tempting.
The blood of wolves is likely to stain the ground again. Many are too prideful to leave their packs, others knowing no other land or not daring to leave their Alphas. But rumours from the few outsiders beckon the pack members. They are tempted to a pack with new ideals, new hopes and plans to no longer be caught in this brutal game of survival of the fittest.
They promise everything. They promise a new dawn.
